For most of their history, they were given at the band shell that the Naumburg family gave to the city in 1923, although in the 1980’s, they moved from Central Park to Damrosch Park, near Lincoln Center. In the early 1990’s, it looked as though the band shell would be torn down, but now that it has been saved, and the concert area around it renovated, the concerts are back.
